Et Elilo.

Après avoir résisté pendant des années parce que « GRUB c'est pas the-Slackware-way » je suis passé à GRUB sur un coup de tête en tombant sur un tuto de migration de 3 lignes il y a un an. C'est tellement plus bien, en plus maintenant ma seule machine pas-EFI est gérée de façon complètement transparente.

Pour ceux qui ne suivraient pas l'actu de KDE [:koukouille:3] , la release de Plasma 6 est prévue en février 2024 et Plasma 5 sera supporté au moins jusqu'à cette date.

Comme on prête à PV l'intention de sortir Slackware 15.1 sur une des dernières release de Plasma 5, ça donne encore quelques mois de préparation.

Je pense aussi que ça ouvre la porte à un upgrade du kernel pour current.

J'ai remarqué un truc avec le cron : l'environnement du process qui lance le démon est transmis aux process lancés par le cron.

Par exemple, pour les démons lancés au démarrage, on a des variables comme

CONSOLE=/dev/console
PATH=/sbin:/usr/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin
TERM=linux
...

Si on fait un "/etc/rc.d/rc.crond restart" dans un terminal, l'environnement sera celui du shell utilisé qui peut contenir pas mal de trucs initialisés par les /etc/profile.d/*
J'ai constaté le souci car j'initialise XDG_RUNTIME_DIR dans un de ces scripts et que les process d'utilisateur non root se retrouvaient lancés par le cron avec un XDG_RUNTIME_DIR pointant sur un dossier root.

J'ai signalé ça sur LQ mais il est possible que PV estime que cela revient à l'utilisateur de gérer ça.

Perso, j'ai fait un alias qui vaut

env -C/ - PATH=/sbin:/usr/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin /etc/rc.d/rc.crond

En lançant le cron comme ça, on transmet un environnement ne contenant que le PATH (le même que celui de l'init).
Si on veut que le cron lancé lors du boot soit clean aussi, le plus simple semble d'intégrer la commande "env" dans /etc/rc.d/rc.crond.

Pour vérifier l'environnement d'un process, j'utilise cette fonction :

Hey folks, if you've been following LQ you know I've talked before about
dropping the huge kernel and moving the distribution to use only the generic
kernel plus an initrd. After mulling this over for a few months, I think I
was looking at the problem in the wrong way. First of all, it's clear that
some Slackware users have been using the huge kernel all along, without an
initrd, and are (to say the least) unhappy about the prospect of a new
requirement to start using one. I've been recommending the generic kernel for
some time, and a major reason is that we've been using the same set of kernel
modules with two slightly different kernels. Because of this, there have
always been a few (generally seldom used) kernel modules that won't load into
the huge kernel. These are things that aren't built into the huge kernel, but
because of a difference in some kernel module dependency, they won't load.
The conclusion that I've come to here is that rather than drop the huge
kernel, or slap a LOCALVERSION on it and provide a whole duplicate tree of
kernel modules especially for the huge kernel, it would be better to make the
generic kernel more huge, and minimize the differences between the two kernel
configs.
That's what I've done here.
Shown below are the differences between the previous generic kernel config
and the one shipping in this update. You'll notice that most of the popular
filesystems are built in. At this point the main difference it that the huge
kernel has a couple of dozen SCSI drivers built into it. The modules for those
drivers won't load into the huge kernel, but they're fully built in so that
doesn't matter. If you find any other modules that will not load into the huge
kernel, please make a note about it on LQ and I'll see what can be done.
So, tl;dr - what does this change mean?
Unless your root device is on SCSI, if you were able to use the huge kernel
without an initrd previously, you should now be able to use the generic
kernel without an initrd. The kernel is a bit bigger, but we probably have
enough RAM these days that it won't make a difference.

Du noyau neuf, du 6.6.2 en testing ! Réjouissement.

À bien noter dans vos cahiers aussi le renommage des noyaux 32bits (si t'es en 32bits, [:moonblood22:7] ). Le noyau pas -smp disparait et le noyau -smp devient le pas -smp. Est-ce bien clair ? En gros pense bien à changer ça dans ton lilo.conf si t'utilises encore lilo

We have fresh 6.6 kernels in /testing! You may notice that on the 32-bit side
we have done away with the -smp labeled kernel packages, but it's actually the
other kernels that were retired -- the non-SMP, non-PAE ones. If you were
previously using kernel-generic-smp or kernel-huge-smp, you'll need to make
some adjustments to your bootloader setup to load kernel-generic or kernel-huge
instead. About the only non-obsolete CPUs that may have an issue with this are
the first generation Pentium M chips, which supported PAE but unfortunately did
not advertise this in the CPU flags. But these will support PAE if the kernel
option "forcepae" is appended at boot time. Enjoy! :-)

Après test de reboot, j'ai du ré-écrire la ligne concernant konsole car les terminaux ne deviennent pas visibles dans l'ordre de leur numérotation.
Maintenant, pour calculer le 11ème terminal, je fais un +10 par rapport au 1er terminal.

Je préfère ne pas toucher à Steam. Quand je vois le temps que j'ai passé à jouer à supertuxkart, c'est plus raisonnable. :pt1cable:

A noter un rare ajout d'un package à une release stable : rdfind a été ajouté à 15.0 car il est nécessaire si on souhaite compiler soi-même le package kernel-firmware.
Installable avec "slackpkg install-new".

A noter aussi que les précédents kernels de current 6.1.64 et 6.1.65 sont susceptibles de corrompre des partitions ext4.
Le kernel de 15.0 n'est pas concerné mais 5.15.140 est touché.
Les versions 6.6 ne sont pas concernées si j'ai bien compris.

We've gone ahead and moved the 6.6 kernel into the main tree. As previously
mentioned when this branch first appeared in /testing, on the 32-bit side
there are no longer any -smp labeled kernel packages, so if you were using
those previously, you'll need to switch to using to kernel-generic or
kernel-huge kernel, including the changes needed to your bootloader setup to
load this instead of the -smp labeled kernel. Also, if you happen to be using
a first generation Pentium M chip, you will need to append forcepae to your
kernel command-line options. Enjoy! :-)

Sympa cette inclusion de qt6. [:olakeen]

A noter dans current, une modif. concernant les commandes gpg et gpgv qui venaient de gnupg-1.
Après l'upgrade du 6/3, gpg est un lien vers gpg2, les v1 de gpg et gpgv sont renommées en gpg1 et gpgv1 et gpgv n'existe plus.

Si on utilise slackpkg+, l'upgrade de gnupg-1 va bloquer la suite, du fait que ni l'ancien binaire gpg, ni le lien n'existent.
Une des solutions est de créer le lien à la main.

Code :

slackpkg -dialog=off upgrade slackpkg
slackpkg -dialog=off upgrade gnupg
ln -sfv gpg2 /usr/bin/gpg

On peut aussi désinstaller gnupg-1 au lieu de l'upgrader car il est probablement inutile pour la plupart des gens.

Everything in this batch besides aaa_libraries, xz, mcelog, and harfbuzz is a
rebuild or upgrade to build against python-3.11.8. Looking at the python
readiness page, it seems like a lot of stuff we use is not certified for
python-3.12 yet (although to be fair, about half as much isn't certified for
python-3.11 either). But 3.11 seems to be the safer choice even though the
final bugfix update is scheduled for Monday. And, if we do decide to move
ahead to 3.12 later on, it'll be a lot easier than this update was.

Andres Freund, un développeur Postgres, s’est rendu compte dans les derniers jours que xz et liblzma ont été corrompus par l’un des mainteneurs du projet. Le problème a été découvert par chance, pour la seule raison que la performance de sshd s’était dégradée sur sa machine.

L’investigation d’Andres Freund a montré que Jia Tan, co-mainteneur de xz depuis environ un an et demi, a poussé plusieurs commits contenant une porte dérobée extrêmement bien cachée au milieu d’un certain nombre de contributions valables depuis environ deux ans et demi, après avoir gagné la confiance du mainteneur historique, Lasse Collin.

Jia Tan a ensuite fait deux versions de xz, la 5.6.0 et 5.6.1, et les a poussées vers les mainteneurs de différentes distributions, comme Fedora Rawhide, Debian Unstable, Kali Linux ou encore Suse. Les contributions de Jia Tan à divers projets sont maintenant en cours de ré-analyse, car il apparaît qu’il a contribué des changements maintenant louches à d’autres projets, comme oss-fuzz, maintenant considérés comme visant probablement à cacher cette porte dérobée.

La plupart des distributions affectées sont des versions bleeding edge, et sont revenues à une version antérieure de leurs paquets xz.

Les effets de cette porte dérobée ne sont pas complètement analysés, mais les investigations existantes montrent des détournements d’appels très suspects autour des fonctions de validation des secrets d’OpenSSH.

Seems like a good idea to build this from a git pull rather than the signed
release tarballs. :-)
The liblzma in the previous packages were not found to be vulnerable by the
detection script, but I'd rather not carry the bad m4 files in our sources.
Here's a test script for anyone wanting to try it:
