More about Xlive problems ...
>> First of all I want to thank ALL the people who mailed us with their xbox live information. We got over 200 mails :-)
This is still UNCONFIRMED information , but with all the mails we received so far it looks like MS is blocking modded xbox consoles. (they probably check your bios after booting the game - that's why you can still enter the xbox live menu).
We got several mails that confirmed that xlive wasn't working with their modchip enabled , but worked fine if they disabled the modchip.
We also got information that Matrix/Xodus modchips in MODE3 will boot xlive games if you hit reset (switch to onboard bios) just after the game loaded. I guess this trick will work fine on any modchip with an external switch. (can be installed on pretty much each modchip).
As the checks are probably software based , it's not impossible these protections will be bypassed someday. I can understand MS wants to ban illegal copies , but they shouldn't be banning modded xbox consoles. It's like the police gave you a ticket , not because you drove too fast , but because your car can drive too fast.
On the other hand I heard alot of people already got their final xbox live starter kit althought it shouldn't have been released before Nov 15. So it's still possible MS is blocking some users till the official launch this friday. ('cause they are not ready yet to handle all the traffic).
Some people with a non-modded xbox reported alot of disconnects & problems the last 24h , but the problems on modded xbox consoles looks alot more persistent.
Also MS warned Xlive beta testers there would be alot of downtime on the server between last weekend and nov 15 , so it's still not excluded they are just working on the servers.
The XboxLive Helpdesk still claims they don't know what's going wrong ... they mostly blame the isp or the MS servers and ask to wait till the problem is solved or till official launch on 15 nov.
More news soon ...
