So here is the process i used to repair this problem:
1. Get http://www.ultimatebootcd.com it has pretty much all the tools you will ever need in debugging computer problems and fixing them. Including benchmark tests, CPU/memory tests, partition managers, Linux (and DOS) boot disks and quite a few hard drive tools.
2. Burn the disk and boot your PC up with the disk in the drive.
3. You will be prompted with a menu, select Hard Disk Tools -> Diagnostic Tools. Then open the MHDD program. This program is also available here.
4. Select the hard drive that has the problem
5. At the prompt, type “nhpa” (without the quotes), agree to set the LBA as the maximum.
6. Follow any further prompts, exit the program and voila, you have fixed your very own hard drive.
