VIA VT6420 SATA RAID and IDE controller supports two configurations:1) Two
SATA HDDs + Two IDE HDDs, and 2) Four SATA HDDs. The RAID functions are only
supported on SATA HDDs. It supports RAID 0, 1, 0+1 and JBOD, these functions,
however, are not supported on IDE HDDS. This "VIA VT6420 Software Package" is
used to install the drivers and utility which are needed for using the VIA
VT6420 SATA RAID and IDE controller.
VIA VT8237 is a south bridge which includes VT6420 SATA controller so VT6420
software package also supports VT8237 SATA controller.

1) System Requirements
1. Hardware Requirement
This package should be installed on the VIA VT6420 Controller or VT8237 south bridge.
Supports up to four hard disk drives, which all support LBA address.
2. Software Requirement

5) Install drivers and utility

== Driver Installation ==

Click on the SETUP.EXE program and it will automatically install the
"VIA Serial ATA RAID Controller Driver", "VIA ATA/ATAPI Host Controller Driver" and
utility onto the operating system.

Click on the SETUP.EXE program and choose "Remove" to remove
"VIA Serial ATA RAID Controller Driver", "VIA ATA/ATAPI Host Controller Driver" and
utility from the operating system.
6) Insatll Operating System into HDD of VT6420
1. Install Windows 98SE or Me
* Make sure VT6420 BIOS is executed by the system BIOS when POST.
* Make sure the HDD wanted for installing the OS is in the first hard disk drive (C:\).
* Install OS.
* Run setup.exe after OS is installed.
2. Install Windows NT 4.0, 2000, XP, or Server 2003
* Copy all files and directories from the DriverDisk folder to a floppy disk.
Make sure the following directories and files are copied into the floppy disk.

* Make sure VT6420 BIOS is executed by the system BIOS when POST.
* Press "F6" when OS installer starts running.
* Insert floppy disk.
* Choose the OS device driver wanted for loading.
* Install OS.
* Run setup.exe after OS is installed.
7) Insatll Operating System into SATA HDD of VT8237
1. Install Windows 98SE or Me
* Make sure VT6420 BIOS is executed by the system BIOS when POST.
* Make sure the HDD wanted for installing the OS is in the first hard disk drive (C:\).
* Install OS.
* Run setup.exe after OS is installed.
2. Install Windows NT 4.0, 2000, XP, or Server 2003
* Copy all files and directories of DriverDisk\SATA folder to a floppy disk. Make sure

8) Silent install
Under windows DOS command window, and type "setup -s", the setup program will install the All drivers.
If user want reboot, you can type "setup -s /z"Reboot"", After install the drivers, OS will reboot.
If you want uninstall drivers, you can type "setup -s" again, setup program will remove all drivers.
or type "setup -s /z"reboot"", setup program will remove all drivers and reboot.
