By combining this expertise and the use of leading-edge information and analysis technology, Optiver has developed a number of highly sophisticated arbitrage strategies that effectively trade momentary anomalies in the international marketplace. Nowadays, the company is a leading independent proprietary trading organisation. The Optiver group trades as a member on various financial exchanges.
Optiver’s culture is one of its most valuable assets; strongly results-driven, open and informal, teambased, ambitious and highly flexible. Traders are encouraged to research new ideas and are given the opportunity to act upon them.

OPTIVER - Wholesales trader
Description:
Wholesale Traders at Optiver are the key link between our screen traders (market makers) and our external trading associates. More than trading in the professional market, you will need the personality, drive and ambition to maintain key international relationships, manage large portfolios, make fast decisions and handle workloads responsibly and productively.
The position begins with a three-month, hands-on training period. You will learn and practise the skills you need to meet your objectives. Upon completion of your training, you will be an integrated member of the wholesale team and you will be expected to manage your responsibilities effectively. Your decisions will impact the traders, as well as the company’s overall performance.
Optiver values forward thinking and forward motion. We recognise our position in this dynamic and expanding industry and create opportunities to expand our operations. We are in a state of continuous growth, and our success is due, in part, to our well-trained and motivated employees, our endless pursuit of new technologies and our results-driven culture.
Requirements:Interested in becoming Optiver’s next Wholesale Trader? Before you apply, see how you match up against the following characteristics.
Do you:
-have excellent social and communication skills;
-have a ‘numbers orientation’ and a strong affinity for finance and financial markets;
-possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (Math or Engineering background is helpful but by no means a requirement);
-consider yourself a driven and ambitious person who thrives in a fast-paced environment;
-have the ability to interpret data and make decisions quickly and accurately;
-seek an unconventional, non-hierarchical work environment that values achievement and personality over titles and appearance
-see yourself as open to different cultures.
While previous trading experience and degrees in Finance are certainly an advantage, we are also open to recent graduates with ambition who have a strong interest and ability in this area, but may lack direct experience.
Company profile:
Optiver is one of the fastest growing and most successful proprietary trading firms in Europe. Globally, we engage in highly-automated electronic market making and arbitrage activities in a wide variety of products including derivatives, stocks and bonds. Driven by a determination to stay ahead of the technology curve, our focus is on continuous innovation, learning and employee development at every level. We conduct our business across 5 continents, 20 countries, the world’s major time zones and employ over 400 people worldwide. Our culture is one of our most valuable resources: results-driven, open and informal, team-based, ambitious and flexible.
