Sur ma mdk8 fraichement installé et mise a j. j'ai voulu installer les drv DRI de ma V3 mais pour metre les packets ils me fallait xfree 4.1.0 j'ai installé les rpm et apres avoir rebooté plus rien : X is dead
 
alors il faut tt reinstaller et tt reprendre a 0 ou alors y a moyen de s'en sortir ??????????????
 
ps: j'ai sauvegarder le fichier Xf86config...je sais pas si ca peu aider mais je pense

1°/ il y avait des drivers DRI dispo sur les CD de la mdk 8 => tu as mal cherché
 
2°/ où as tu pris XFree 4.1.0 ? tu as pris des rpm mdk ?
 
3°/ comment les as tu installé ?

oui les drv dri y etait mais j'ai cherché le serveur optimisé 3dfx : tdfx_dri-4.0.00-1.i386.rpm et tdfx_drm-1.0-1.src.rpm (cf lea-linux.org) et pour installer les version que j'ai pu trouvé j'ai du changer de version de Xfree4, mais les rpm n'etait pas specifiquement prevu pour la mdk.
 
mais par contre l'intall je l'ai fait limit. salement. : gestionnaire de paquet rpm sous kde...  
 
mais par contre il n'y a pas eu d'erreur (ou pas répertoriés...)a l'install

Les rpm ont ete pris sur rpmfind.org (version optimisé pour686 : 3Dfx video driver Polish(ed) Linux Distribution ), heu..quels st les fichiers log de X (newbie oblige...et surtt pas le systeme sous les yeux...)
 
Bref j'aurais du me faire une petite image avec ghost avant de jouer avec mon systeme , en + jouer tres tres salement....

je mettrait ce qu'il affiche quand j'essaye de demarrer X demain et une chose space , c que le premier mess d'erreur concerne apparemment le port // (alors la je vois pas bien le rapport mais bon....

donc t'as téléchargé des fichiers pas vraiment en rapport avec ta distrib.
 
g déjà eu le problème de perdre X après install foireuse de drivers nvidia, on peut ré installer X sans tout réinstaller ! oublie tes habitudes windowsienne.
 
pour l'installer, tu désinstalles proprement tes packages X
rpm -qa| grep  X
urpme packagesavecX
 
tu installes ensuite. il te faudra quelque chose comme ca  :
XFree86-SVGA-3.3.6-21mdk       <- 3.3.6 : a oublier
XFree86-4.0.3-7mdk             <- version 4.03 : version a prendre au minimum

ce n'est pas possible ! il y a des packages pour Mandrake et il prend ceux d'une autre distro inconnue de chez inconnue !
 
1°/ utiliser des rpm Mandrake
 
2°/ soit prendre sur rpmfind, soit utiliser urpmi/rpmdrake avec une source cooker.

et bien oui DS tu as raison c 'importe quoi ce que j'ai fait mais bon c en faisant des conneries qu'on apprend, et puis savor tt reinstller X depuis la console c tjs un bon entrainement (dt je me serais passé mais bon)  
 
j'espere y arriver avec ca

le plus marrant c que quand je liste les paquet (rpm -qa| grep  X
) je ne retrouve que du mandrake std rien sur les paquet "exotique".

installe les packages V3_DRI ( je ne connais plus le nom ) avec rpmdrake. Met comme mots clé dri.
