Newbies de chez Newbies en Linux :
Radéon 8500 et LG 795FT+
A l'install de la Mandrake 9.0 j'ai les messahes suivants :
"EE RADEON(0) : No valid mode found for this DFP/LCD
EE Screens found, but none have a usable configuration"

Voilà j'ai déjà passé bcp de temps mais j'arrive juste à avoir le mode console alors pour un nouveau c'est pas chouette.

Qui aurait le meme genre de config et pourrait m'indiquer les paramètres de sa config dans XFdrake SVP ?

J ai la meme config ke toi (cad radeon 8500 + LG 795FT+) par contre sur celle la j ai Windows XP ..
Par contre j avais mis mandrake 8.2 et ca roulais aprfaitement mais je crois ke ct a l epok ou j avais encore mùa geforce 3.
Mais la Radeon est suppoorté en 2D c sur

j'ai essayé toutes les réso et les Hz et j'ai tjr un écran noir => c'est à désesperer ...
Je crois que je vais garder Windows...

choisit le driver vesa ou alors utilise les drivers r200 de dri :

le mieux reste encore (si ta r8500 est une built-by et non pas un powered-by) de prendre les drivers r8500 sur le site d'ati

je viens de voir que la radeon 9000 est en fait un r250, donc ça marchera pas... le truc pour le vesa c'est que c'est à 60 Hz !!! :cry: Serait-il possible de changer le rafraichissement en vesa ?

Ils mettent combien de temps en général pour sortir le support ?

pour la 2d, xfree 4.2.1 devrait suffire, pour la 3d, faut prendre le cvs.

Ça dépend, mais pour la prochaine release de xfree, ils ont vraiment l'air de prendre leur temps et ça n'a pas l'air d'etre pour bientot

mouais on dirait que xfree est mort depuis qqs temps ... nouveautés inexistantes, support des nouveaux materiels completement atrophié, développement sur une seule architecture ...

Je trouves qu'ils pourraient sortir de nouvelles versions mineures avec des mises a jour de drivers.

Certaines fonctionnalités des prochaines versions ont l'air interessante, comme xrandr et la configuration automatique(meme si ces fonctionnalités auraient dut existé depuis longtemps) mais ça bloque beaucoup.

Depuis longtemps je n'ai pas touché de mandrake, néanmoins il
me semble qu'il y a une solution assez simple (que tu vas ptêtre
trouver assez compliquée).
Visiblement l'ordi a un pb pour démarrer le serveur X, il te
suffit de faire un xf86config et de choisir la carte vga par
défaut, ça n'exploitera bien entendu pas toutes les capacités de
ta carte graphique (et c'est triste) mais bon, tu pourras au moins
avoir un serveur X qui fonctionne.

Si tu as besoin de détails, demande, j'avais fait ça pour une
tnt2 il y a longtemps sur un X qui ne la supportait pas en tant
que telle et ça avait bien marché, mm s'il n'y avait bien entendu
aucune optimisation pour la carte.

PS> Contrairement au topic, ça semble être un pb sous X et pas
sous la console ton histoire, sauf si j'ai très mal compris.

Et on les trouve où les patchs ? Ou au moins les ftp cvs. Désolé pour mon ignorance mais XFree est la chose que je connais le moins dans linux.

EDIT: j'ai trouvé le ftp cvs. je crois que je vais attendre qu'ils sortent une version (ou mieux un .deb ou .rpm), car je ne m'en sortirais jamais avec ces patchs.

Le cvs a l'air de bien fonctionner, je suis en train de le tester. Y a de la vraie transparence, xrandr et les curseurs ont été changé, ça fait bizarre, ils sont ombré, rouge et semi transparent

Pour le moment, il n'y a que le curseur qui l'est, faudra certainement attendre que les devs mettent a jour leurs programmes. 'fin, y a peut etre qqch pour le regler mais j'ai pas trouvé(j'ai pas bcp cherché non plus)

bon ben malheureusement le problème de Chicot je l'ai aussi
Radeon 7500 + Philips 107S
et avec XF86Config j'ai essayé :
en moniteur :
-tous les Philips 107S
-SVGA 1024*768
-SVGA 800*600
-mode personnalié (réglages venant de mon IUToù on a les mêmes écrans)
en carte :
-RadeOn
-carte VGA standard
et en distribution :
-Mandrake 8.2, 8.3, 9.0
-RedHat 7.2, 7.3

alors est-ce que qqn aurait une idée? :??: :jap: (ai-je besoin de préciser que je suis sponsorisé par la newbie Corporation?)

Je suis sur le point de réussir avec ma radeon 9000Pro mais ça marche encore pas. En fait je met le driver radeon pour X et je rajoute la ligne ChipID 0x4242 dans le fichier de conf. Ca démarre mais l'écran passe directos en veille !!! Je précise que c'est aussi un LG 795FT +

j'ai lu par ci par là qu'il y aurait un bien meilleur support de la r8500 dans le prochain xfree (4.3) notamment de la 3d (enfin en partie quoi ... et evidemment pas de s3tc à l'horizon)

non c'est pas le CVS, je sais pas où le prendre le CVS, car sur le rep CVS y des fichiers partout ! J'y connais rien à XFree.

Oui c'est bien dans la section device que j'ai mis l'option ChipId 0x4242.

Pour les logs je vais regarder. Le problème c'est qu'il plante l'ordi et je doit faire un reset brut !

Oui c'est bien dans la section device que j'ai mis l'option ChipId 0x4242.

Pour les logs je vais regarder. Le problème c'est qu'il plante l'ordi et je doit faire un reset brut !

Ça ne risque pas de fonctionner, le support a été ajouté y a quelques temps dans le cvs. Faut que tu attende le 4.3, j'ai fait un package du cvs y a pas longtemps(le 16 octobre), mais c'était pour slack, je l'ai fait comme un porc(c'est une tres grosse archive et je ne pense pas avoir activer le dri). Il est sur http://membres.lycos.fr/fplinux/packages/

Je ne te promet pas que ça fonctionnera.

Pour les Radeon 8500 Xfree 4.1.x et 4.2.x fonctionne tres bien, meme en 3D. Il sufit d'aller downloader les drivers sur le site d'ATI. Il faut prendre les drivers pour les FireGL 8800. (Carte professionnelle ayant la meme chip de base que la 8500 normale). Voici le lien.

C'est un peu compliquer a installer, mais cela fonctionne tres bien. Sous ma debian, j'ai XFree 4.1.0.1 et je peux jouer a Quake3 et a Wolfenstein sans probleme

Pour rasta knight : tu installes en radeon, ton ecran et ta résolution voulu : tu ne t'inquiettes pas le test va planter si tu as le cable Tv en place sur la carte.
Tu redemmare en mode console et tu rajoute dans ton /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 dans la section device : Option "crt_screen"
Et chez moi cela m'a permis de garder le cable Tv dans la carte sous Linux :bic:

Ce qui est bizzare dans mon log, c'est que ça plante pas vraiment ... en plus le chpset esty reconnu comme un radeon 8500.

Pour ton package je ne pourrai pas essayer avant la semaine prochaine car je suis en congé en chez moi c'est 56K. Sinon, ça me dérrange pas de passer sous slack, c'était ma première distrib (la 3.2).
