Salut,

ABOUT THE VIDEO CODING AND ARCHITECTURES GROUP
The Video Coding and Architectures research group (http://vca.ele.tue.nl) is part of the Signal Processing Systems department at the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands. The VCA group carries out long-term research on image-processing algorithms and also applied research on video-processing hardware architectures. Research topics include, among other, video analysis, multiprocessor video systems, video segmentation, 3D scene reconstruction, multi-view video compression and 3D video streaming.
Several open research positions are available beginning 2008, in the Video Coding and Architectures group, both at Ph.D. and post-doctoral level.
RESEARCH PROJECT
The Ph.D candidates and post-doctoral research fellow will work in the framework of the IGlance EU project jointly lead with University of Eindhoven, INRIA Grenoble, STMicroelectronics and ?.
The project focuses on the problem of acquisition, compression and rendering
of 3D/multi-view video.
In this context, the goal of the Ph.D. project is to investigate, develop
and test algorithms for
- multi-camera array video acquisition and calibration,
- depth estimation and 3D video scene modeling,
- multi-view video compression,
- image-based rendering,
- implementation of 3D image processing and rendering using graphic processors.
The ideal candidate should hold a MSc degree in computer science or electrical engineering with emphasis on signal processing, preferably on image/video processing and good programming skills, preferably in C or C++.
For post-docs, experience in image processing and a good track record of publications is a must.
